Crossing the Delaware Bay,
Kamala  Sarup
Cape May County Herald.

I worked on the Cape May Lewes Ferry for seven months. I love the water, beaches and the shore, but there's something special about the ferry. While I worked on the ferry, I met wonderful friends and nice captains and pilots, like Capt. David R. Oat, Capt. Joe Napolean, Capts. Hansen, Sorace, Vance, and Macomber, Pilot Megan and others. They work hard.

I still occasionally watch the ferry as it comes and goes across Delaware Bay and brings back beautiful memories. Cape May Lewes Ferry provides employment directly or indirectly. In my opinion, every individual in Cape May should be employed in terms of his/her own interest, skill, qualification and education. The wealth management and investment pattern can also be synchronized from Cape May to Delaware. It works to develop tourism in a new and innovative way in New Jersey, create more affordable houses, health and educational opportunities.

Last week, I invited some of my friends to my home. They cross the Delaware Bay almost every week. Both of my friends expressed to me how they felt that crossing the bay is stress free and they shared their feelings about it. “Cape May is the birthplace of tourism," my friend said. "Cape May is the root of the idea of tourism of the soul.

"My son likes to ride on the ferry and is always playing outside. Last Thursday, he stopped all of a sudden. He looked very happy. Somehow, he knows that, at any time, nice things can happen. Although my son's mind didn't draw any definite conclusions, he understood some beautiful lighthouse and the dolphin (picture was taken by Capt. Joe Napolean on March 19) which made him extremely happy.”My friend further added, "Kamala, I am full of love for my business trip from Cape May to Delaware. On the one side, our family situation is secure, as we have sources of income.

I also joined my hands with my friends and, together, we laughed. I found that they, together with their families, both continue to have their similar experiences on water. They continued to smile and love each other fully by crossing of the Delaware Bay.

Memories of our friendship

Leaders, Unemployment And An Economy

Love, and being loved in Cape May Beaches

Author: Kamala Budhathoki 'Sarup'

On the beaches of Cape May, one can hear many different kinds of talks. When people talk about life, love and wedding, and other gather around to listen, it sometimes feels as if a big conversation had been organized. This type of thing has been recurring over the past few days. On the beach, close to my house, some people talk about the politics, weather, with long sighs. Others talk about the jobs and
travel, and still others talk about public expenditures, cold, Snow and the Shore. As we know, Cape May has some of the most beautiful Jersey Shore beaches.

I do like to talk on the beach in Wild wood. I feel happy when my friends and people talk about love, wedding, poetry and life. I hear scores of stories comparable to Romeo and Juliet, - a popular work of literature about a loving husband and wife whose tale ends in tragedy is often repeated.

Today, it is especially not cold in the beach of Wild wood, hot than other days. A crowd surrounds two people in the beach, enjoying the loud argument they are having. One of them is smartly dressed in a suit and the other seems to be in a philosophic mood. The smartly dressed one asks: "Do you like life, love and the Shore?" The philosophic-looking man responds, "To tell you the truth, I like it."

To which, the smartly dressed man comes forwards and says, "That's a beautiful thing to say. I believe that with love comes change. Why wouldn't we like that?" The philosopher continues.

The well-dressed man responds, "You were talking about love, wedding, and poems just a moment ago, but now you talk about economy and employment?." This angers the philosopher a little. He says, "You all must try to understand what I am saying. Yes, I do agree that each of  us has his own problems. The present time and, naturally, it has also impacted the economic aspect of life."

He further added " We have more other options to show our hard work to children about how there is beauty and love in our life". As I prepare to leave the beach, he continues, " From now on, we are for love, and being loved in this beautiful Cape May."

The responsible leaders should have appropriate plan

Author: Kamala Budhathoki 'Sarup'

People are to continue suffering with lack of law and order and uncontrolled and uneven inflation and commodity prices. The responsible leaders should have appropriate plan – as fornext after. In fact, if they are plan less, vision less and thoughtless. The people weighted them as painless and not obligatory to the general public.

If the political leaders are hungry and thirsty of power only, so that they always would like to remain in the front line of the politics. Politics should not be for own sake or for leader sake, for people sake.

We see talking politics men-to-men, leader –to –leader and party-to-party.
On the appetite of a healthy leadership, is seeking thebest leader – who is that? As the study showed, the generalpublic are hue and cry in political crisis and out of democracy, freedom, peace and employment and they are being faced the hardships to spend the normal life. The people facing under the cloud of uncertainty and violence is not good. Once again peoplev may come to display in search of freedom, peace and security and democracy.

"We are facing the unsettled landscape and challenges to eligibility to every exercise. There is no any effort or progress seento end the era. Some leaders are not fully capable to maintain peaceand stability". Said Dr. Surendra Bhakta Pradhanang, who is an award winning personality whose work has helped create a new face for tourism and economic development and the best thinker of village development and the development further added "people always want to see the leaders held more accountable."

Let the people decide the development and democracy they want. People's economic development and democracy must not be limited within the paper and speech. In politics must not be for the leaders. Despite, politics must be for the welfare and people's desire. No change, it is experienced, is seen in the politics at all though wetalk about people's democracy. In the the heart of the general people known as the strength of People's Democracy, person-to –person.

Due to fear, insurgency and instability, people are out of normal life facing horror and danger in every walk of life". Pradhang further said Hence, if the politics remains exceedingly tense and dangerous. This time we can expect nothing for personal benefit. For the people's interest and people's welfare the politics could not have been set at all.

Anyway, people want and need people -oriented democracy and employment not leader-oriented. The system of freedom and democracy must be established.

No progress is possible and nothing can be helped to the people unless and until the politics is free from vandalism, insult, personal selfishness and danger of power politics in real terms.

Searching for a dynamic leader.

Searching for a dynamic leader.

Author:

During the 1980s, participation of women's political and economic sectors was very low. The United Nations' declaration of an International Women's Year and Decade (1975-1985) started discussion and debate on women's rights. Yet the role played by women in the development of the country remained insignificant. The world has yet to realize the importance of eradicating discrimination against women.Women are playing a greater role in
politics and economics these days -- but their participation in politics
is far from the fifty percent that would represent equal and fair
representation. More than ninety percent of women have been affected by
the violence. Since the terrorism/conflic and war started, rapes and kidnappings have
increased. Prostitution has increased. Kidnappings and torture still
take place.
The forced recruitment of young women into the armed forces and
terrorism is another serious issue.
Most women, especially in rural areas, are incapable of fighting for
their rights. Democratic reforms in many countries provided an
opportunity for some
women to become active. Women's organizations arose and offered support
to women who wanted to share their problems and experiences -- but after
a few years they disappeared. Nowadays women's organizations are
satisfied with carrying out small programs for women, but they are not
bringing any real change in the status of women.
It is true that the women organization nowadays encourages women to
participate in political affairs. But they are still held back by the
parochial culture, particularly in the villages. It is a positive sign
that women are being recruited for the army and other posts, but still
women's participation in politics remains nominal. This applies to
both urban and rural areas. Most women simply avoid politics.
World wide, millions of women live below the poverty line and must
struggle from day to day to make ends meet. Despite their suffering, in
most cases they provide the stability to hold the family together.
World's leaders have consistently said that they would undertake to
improve women's status. But the leaders are adept at changing their
colors and goals, and adjusting to a changing environment. It is this
ability that allowed them to come to the cities. However, they are in
chains. Their hands are tied and their mouths are sealed in the Cabinet.
Misunderstandings, misconceptions, mistrust and tensions abound among
themselves due to the absence of capable leadership. The empowerment of
women is critical to the world's social and economic development. A
good educational program to educate women in how to manage their
finances and maintain fiscal discipline would be welcome. Women play a
key role in shaping and safeguarding culture and society.
Good economic programs and opportunities are needed to help increase the
income of women and help reduce poverty. It is the consensus of women
that a stable government must be established for all-round development
and freedom of opportunity, both in rights and duties. Women are
searching for a dynamic new leader.

Preventing Crime in New Jersey

Author: Kamala Budhathoki Sarup

Published in Cape May County Herald.

Recently, around midnight, two young men were trying to steal some money from my car. Unknowingly, they tripped the car alarm and I woke up as soon as it went off since my bedroom is very close to the driveway. They stole my registration and insurance card. I immediately called Middle Township Police. The police were very kind and helpful, and I’d like to thank them.

This is one example of many of increasing terror/ criminal activities in New Jersey, which is an issue we need to address without delay. We have to make sure we are taking appropriate action to deter crimes throughout New Jersey. According to a report on NJ.com, the 2015 FBI data showed there were 363 murders in New Jersey – up from 349 the previous year. The slight bump increased the rate to 4.1 murders per 100,000 residents.

Sexual assault, murder, manslaughter, rape, and robbery are also increasing. Last month, in some counties, disputes between police and criminals resulted in shootings. Crime seems to be rising steadily and violently at an accelerating rate in New Jersey’s major counties. The above-mentioned issues might affect tourism, which in turn will affect New Jersey’s economy as a whole. New Jersey is a beautiful state but recently, higher taxes, limited job opportunities, crimes and poorly paid workers are adding to poverty, and need to be addressed properly.

I think this has and will hinder the growth of New Jersey’s economy and the rise of crime now and in the future. The executive director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Yury Fedotov, told the Convention in Vienna, the 2030 agenda for sustainable development acknowledged that confronting crime and promoting the rule of law were essential to the achievement of the sustainable development goals. World Health Organization said, “We need to integrate violence prevention into social and educational policies, and thereby promote social equality.”

There is a variety of intervention programs we need to implement that may help people, especially young people, stop committing crimes. If our goal is to reduce crimes then programs related to those should be located in local areas. We also need a systematic approach to support schools to activate their involvement against crime activities to develop these kinds of programs that will demonstrate positive results. We also need to teach crime resolution skills to our small children.

In my opinion, the key to making New Jersey less dangerous is to reduce the time and effort that makes it so expensive to arrest and convict the guilty people, costing more for New Jersey as a whole. I think creating more job opportunities will reduce the crime. It is a basic human right to live crime free and from being a victim of one. However, many countries around the globe failed to identify the problems and have no program against it that has left many people with no choice but to become a victim of crime.

There is an urgent need for crime protection and human rights monitoring.

When you trust in love, miracles happen.

By   This is the true story.

"Your friend is beautiful. Only yesterday, the son of my uncle had written a letter to me." He was protective of her. He turned towards the south, looking through the corner of his eyes all the while ignoring my talk. "I came to this city swearing my love of her. Sometimes I become sad, for the image of Paru comes in my mind day and night," he said.

He quickly finished a packet of cigarette. He is the most frank person in our group, so it can also be said that there is no one against him. "One needs to have patience in love," sitting beside me, he spoke while taking a sip of tea.

"What am I doing if it is not patiently waiting? Not only this much, but I'm ready to wait throughout my entire life for Paru," he further said.

As always, he was straightforward and blunt, and at times, we were anxious of his habit of becoming silent after being angry. "It makes no difference if anyone  tells me off or criticizes me," he said, standing up and heading towards his room. I guessed he had not liked my good-natured joking about Paru as it made his heart ache bitterly.

'How this girl could have walked without looking people walking in front though she has age and grown up to youth?' Once my sister had scolded Paru in the morning while she was walking down the street. 'Why you answering back this way? Don't you mind the manner of how to speak with the elders?' my sister had spoken instantly. Had we not been there, fight would have been taken place between them. After that, 'Until your sharp-tongued sister will remain I will never stop at your home,' She had sworn. I remembered my past.
Every evening, remembering they would brag with me for resigning the job and go to village. 'How you will bring her after resigning job? Marriage is yet to be done. You should not get frustrated this way.' I did not know whether he would like or dislike at the talk I would convince him but his face would always get sad while I use to talk.

'Day after tomorrow I should move for village. Just after two days when I reach  village, I will marry her.' He had spoken with boast without taking a breath. 'If mother does not let me marry, I will straightly get back catching a bus to a big city. I have taken a return ticket, too. I should move in the morning.' Before giving me chance to speak a word, he had displayed the ticket towards me. 'How you dared to bring the ticket without doing any consultations? You should have asked for a word if you are going. If you do as you please then I can do nothing.' I had scolded him so badly. Then after without speaking even a single word with me he left.
I sensed that he had not informed her that he was coming.

"Are you informed? They are married now". A colleague of our group, informed it to others. I became really happy.

Fortunately, when he used to get depressed, he used alcohol to numb the feelings of sorrow and loneliness. But because of his love he accepts the consequences, and moves forward. Later, I heard, he has not had a drink since he got his love her. Nowadays, he is able to handle his depression without using alcohol to numb it. In any case, he has decided not to drink for life.
For when you trust in love, miracles happen.

"If I get the chance to marry your friend." My college friend spoke, lighting a cigarette while sitting beside the balcony one evening. "You're in here. Will she preserve her youth for you there at the village?" I smiled and told him.

Increase Minimum Wage

By Kamala Budhathoki Sarup

Published in Cape May County Herald.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie vetoed legislation that would have raised the state’s minimum wage from $8.38 to $15 an hour following New Jersey State Senate’s approval which would have implemented a gradual increase.

It's the second time Christie rejected a minimum wage hike. He stated that increasing wages would make businesses in New Jersey unaffordable.

According to media reports, when announcing his veto Christie stated, "All of this sounds great, raising the minimum wage, when you're spending someone else's money."

In my opinion, it is very important to raise the minimum wage for many single mothers and people who are having a hard time living with a minimum paycheck. Most men and women who are holding low-paying jobs in New Jersey are dependent on government support like food stamps, partial unemployment, etc., because they can't afford it even if they work two jobs with minimum wage pay. Even when people work more than 40 hours in a week, they are still unable to support their family and this is a sad reality we are facing right now.

After Labor Day, there are very few full-time jobs in areas of Cape May County. Many people who work in retail stores, restaurants and hotels start working fewer hours. Many people are unable to get jobs in the winter season because they can't find the full-time jobs they want and need. Raising the minimum wage is the best way to increase the living standard and people will have to be less dependent upon the government.

Increasing the wages doesn't necessarily mean low profits for companies. Looking at the wages provided to the employees at Costco Wholesale Corporation (one of the largest retailers in the world) proves it. Costco pays more than other retail companies in the U.S. By doing this, employees are more than satisfied. Hence, Costco can be an example; if you pay more than the minimum to your employees you get the best people to work for you which results in an increase in business and economy.

I don’t think raising wages will result in short-term success, as the government assistance system needs to be reformed, but in the long run, raising the minimum wage is the best way to stimulate our economy in New Jersey.

The body decays – but love endures.

By Kamala Budhathoki Sarup Kamala

Published in UPI Asia Blog, Newsblaze.com, Opednews.com, Scoop.co.nz, Webcommentary.com, mediaforfreedom.com

"Lovely friend Kamala," my friend sent me these words by email. "Whenever you allow yourself to feel the extreme of love and the extreme of freedom and peace, pain and sorrow will be wiped out. My words will provide you a place as the morning breeze does. This is the foundation of love and peace." This part of the long email sent by my friend suddenly increased the beatings of my heart. I wonder how it is that love sent through an email can play such a sensitive role in my life. "One can live in a loving atmosphere." This is a lesson that I learned from my friend. I too started to send my feelings via email. "When I feel love for small children, older people, poor people, that moment becomes the most important moment imaginable. The imagination recalls; so sweet a recollection I never expected.

I am certain that people are lovely, like the touch of poem – it seems as if our love could be permanent and unbelievable." A cool breeze is blowing and I can see the long river outside. It has become my duty to look out at this lively river. “What I am feeling now is that our way of thinking, assumptions and lifestyle are similar. I believe in deep friendship, which I think must be delicate as well. I am fond of flowers. I love children. " In the early morning, I passed on this message to my friend through the telephone. I am not sure whether my friend heard the word flower or not, but what is a comfort to me is that my friend seems as delicate as me; perhaps my friend is a good student and a poet. I can feel delicacy in voice.

Although friend speaks well and clearly into the phone, it feels as though we are on opposite sides of this earth. Probably, we will meet soon or see one another. The result of this probability could be positive. And now, yet again, I watch the people walking on the road while I sit on the bench outside of my home. Like the people, I am also busy. My school friend had invited me on a trip to visit Washington, DC, with him, for a holiday.

I had replied civilly, "Thank you! But I am so busy that I don't even have time to think for myself. Maybe I'll be unable to maintain to visit for awhile. We are both are so busy and don't have leisure time to spend. It is better to keep our lives separate." he became quite sad and went off without notice. I suddenly felt uneasy and sought the refuge of my home. Turning back to the computer, I see another email from my friend, asking me to send my photo. Email makes me forget myself. I begin yet another email response.

"The sky and heart should be unified. We are to live for our future and the plans that we imagine. I love you, I love children, I love older people, I love poor people. But I can't express enough love. Our love may or may not bring us together, but what is certain is that it will live a long time, like a story or poem. "We must continue our love for children and women. Love is far more important. The body decays – but love endures. If we accept this principle, we will be one step forward in the field of love and we can dedicate ourselves for the immortality of love forgiveness, kindness, freedom and peace."

Needed to Combat Child Pornography

Kamala Budhathoki Sarup

Published in Cape May County Herald. http://www.capemaycountyherald.com/opinion/letters_to_the_editor/article_8b083070-6ad8-11e6-8a75-ab77029456af.html

New Jersey police arrested 40 people from every county in N.J. in August 2016, for the possession and distribution of child pornography. N.J. State Police said the arrests were "the result of a proactive scanning of Internet traffic to discover who was sharing and downloading these files across N.J."
A conviction for possessing pornographic images that are illegal or involves a minor is considered one of the greatest crimes in the country and can result in fines, and convictions including up to 15 years in federal prison as well as registration as a sex offender.
Child pornography is one of the major leading causes of the exploitation and abuse of a minor or person under the legal age of consent. Usually, it involves children below the age of 18 years. It is also often associated with child prostitution or becoming a sex slave.
Child pornography not only includes videos but writing and pictures which are produced by either direct involvement or simulation. Even though serious laws are present against these activities it is still prevailing as well as growing in number.
Yury Fedotov, executive director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, states that "the exploitation of children is not a new phenomenon, but the digital age has exacerbated the problem and created more vulnerability to the children.”
There are numerous factors that make children more vulnerable to online abuse. The globalized and anonymous cyber space also helps predators escape detection in new ways, and a multitude of technical challenges hinder police abilities to identify and address child pornography offenses. A lack of an appropriate legislation across the globe is also a major impediment for investigations and prosecutions.
While observing the present scenario, the explicit picture of children affected by sexual crimes can be seen. Moreover, it has highly affected the sector of education. Therefore, thousands of minors have been directly hampered in the field of education. With the growing child pornography crime throughout the world, I urge to have more legal rights in expectation for their better safety. I think doing so will also increase social and community motivation because it is easy to avoid child pornography but hard to eliminate it.
Biraj Budhathoki, a civil engineer working to defend children's rights in Asia said, "Minors especially living on or below the poverty line are "extremely vulnerable" towards sexual crime and also they are under threat from HIV/AIDS. The psychosocial effects on children can be devastating and may haunt them through life. Many children exposed to horrible acts of sexual violence during key developmental years, come to accept violent acts as a normal part of their life. This is putting young children at risk for continuing cycles of violence.”
Community-based education is needed.
There's also a need for psychologists to advocate for policies that support children affected by sexual violence, and to help deliver other services, such as providing health support in N.J. Normalcy and balance are essential to their lives and to their emotional well-being in the community.
All emergency assistance in N.J. should specifically address sexual violence and it must be brought under control. There can no longer be any excuses, no acceptable argument for exploiting children for sex, and child pornography in N.J.

Unsafe Driving, Traffic Violations in NJ

Unsafe Driving, Traffic Violations in NJ
By Kamala Budhathoki Sarup.
Published in Cape May County Herald.

Death from unsafe driving, traffic violations, and traffic accidents are high in New Jersey and are increasing. Not only do they cause risk to one's health but they can have aftereffects too.
According to media reports, in 2015, there were 501 road accidents that led to 541 deaths in New Jersey. According to data presented by Allstate Insurance in 2012, New Jersey was named “home to the second worst drivers” in the country, which was printed in Forbes magazine. New Jersey Department of Transportation released a report that included approximately 62,000 accidents in 2014. Most car accidents in New Jersey occur on municipal or county roads. We experience a large number of accidents during the holiday season in Cape May County.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than one-third of teenage deaths in the U.S. are the result of motor vehicle crashes. The reason: “Most teens around the country are inexperienced and don’t have enough practice and knowledge when they get behind the wheel of a car,” stated Jason Friedman, founder, and CEO of Drive Safer.

When I got a careless driving ticket from Middle Township police last month, I knew it was not a major accident but I was still scared.

I am very thankful to new Middle Township Judge Dorothy Incarvito-Garrabrant. She was wonderful. The court was very busy and most were there for traffic violations. The way Judge Garrabrant and her prosecutor dealt with each case to remind people to respect the law, become a better driver and citizen, the more I got inspired from her. At the end of the day, I set my mind to help and convince other people about the laws as well as the safety of the roads, the effects and how it affects the lives of the people and the community.

When one meets with an accident, he should immediately inform police and one should not flee the scene as it may raise further questions about the accident. If the owner of the car is present, he should exchange information regarding his phone number and other information. Reporting it is a good thing as it can in most cases avoid death and damage of lives and property. Your driving history is one of the biggest factors in determining what you pay for car insurance.

Young drivers in New Jersey run a greater risk everywhere and this problem is still largely unsolved. Distracted driving is a serious problem on the roads, especially due to the use of mobile devices.
It is very important to encourage people with new teen drivers in New Jersey to get educated about New Jersey’s Graduated Driver’s License (GDL) program. It is very important to save lives by preventing injuries and deaths at work, in homes and communities, and on the road through leadership, research, education and advocacy in New Jersey from the start of high school.

The need for prioritization of road safety education with a focus on issues like drunk driving, speeding, and negligent and reckless driving are among the main recommendations that need to be noted if we want to prevent traffic violations or deaths in New Jersey.

True Story: My friend was raped and killed.

Kamala Budhathoki 'Sarup'
Published in:UPI Asia Blog.

I arranged my hair, and I looked at myself in front of the mirror. I lit the stove and boiled tea in akettle. My heart began to boil like the tea in the pot. My women'srights activist friend and I had been good friends in school, when she was in 9th grade and I was in 10th grade. I used to help her in many ways. To reach school, it was necessary to walk up a foot walk. On the way, there were raspberries and peaches.

She was short and could not reach the fruits, so I helped her pick them. I protected her from the raspberry thorns, as I collected the raspberries, which I gave to her on a leaf plate I brought from home. We often walked together hand in hand. Oh, how we used to enjoy watching movies and drinking milk together. We used to sing and dance on the way home. I can’t remember more than that. I’ve tried to remember.

In December, she said to me and my brother, "If you study hard, we will go to the city. We will share our joys and sorrows in a small rented room there. We may get good jobs also. A teaching job might be easy to get."My brother had said, "Studying in a city is not as easy as you think. It is very hard to lead a life. It takes a lot of money. Studying without money is impossible. It is better to search for a job first. Money does not grow on trees. Money will do everything.”

To which she replied, "Don’t you understand? I will be happy if I join the police!" She used to make such jokes to keep me happy. I poured the boiling tea in a cup and entered the room. I stood in front of the mirror and sipped my tea, awaiting my friend eagerly. It is ten minutes to four. I adjusted the window screenand lay on my bed.

"Which one is Kamala's home?" I heard the voice of one of my school friends, Kumar, from the yard. I stood up, went to the mirror, adjusted my eyeliner, put the red spot on my frehead, rosy lipstick onmy lips and went down to welcome Kumar. He was standing in the yard. I said, "We are meeting after a long time. Thank God for reuniting us."Kumar just stared at me. I just smiled at him, thinking this was one of his usual jokes. We entered my house together. "When did you come?"Kumar asked without hesitation, which I didn't anticipate. "I am still searching for my future," I said. I went into the kitchen and started frying meat and preparing tea.

After a time, I gave Kumar eat, fried beaten rice and a cup of tea. Placing the things on thetable, I told him, "I am still waiting for my friend. Why is she late today?" While saying so, my heart trembled and I wanted to weep, and embraced him at that moment.

"Why do you weep? I know you love your friend. After two long years, not only is your heart pious, but also it loves her. She also wept for you. You would be surprised to read the note in her diary.
Did you know her parents tried to force her to marry, but she didn't listen to them. Her mother perhaps died from grief and father has been a heart patient for four years. It was her who wanted you to come to her marriage. She did not want to get married without your approval of the man. She could not trust her parents." Saying so, Kumar also wept. "Please eat first. The tea is getting cold. Eat everything now; we will continue our conversation after breakfast." I tried to change the matter from the serious to the simple. Within a minute, he expressed the bad news. "Your friend struggled with life in many ways.

She was raped and killed. Only the day before yesterday, she was engaged and then today she died in the hospital." There is no security and no rights for women. These days, thereis no security for women even in their homes, work places and public places. My eyes were full of tears.

Prostitution: True Story Of My Friend

Kamala Budhathoki ‘Sarup’
Published in UPI Asia news (Blog), Opednews.com, newsblaze.com, mediaforfreedom.com, webcommentary.com, Nolanchart.com.

I wrote this diary about my friend. Actually after returning from Prostitute Brothel, my first meeting with her began the strange day for me. In a way, every day I have been meeting a person or the other. Whatever it may be, among those I met at this moment she is a bit different from other and, in fact, this is an important in our friendship.

It's not that I am trying to keep this day separate from others from the expected thought of other things. I am not trying either to interpret the concept of the philosopher that people live in their own ways. Whatever it may be, in this situation of tension I am delighted to have met this friend. She told me "The large city of prostitute brothel which is terrifying to look at with its tall buildings, I felt as if everyone who lived inside felt satisfied and they quenched their hunger. I don't like even to remember. I was buried in my mind's inner conflict of that really. Due to the compulsion to sell my body every evening, all the time within me an unknown fear, terror and fright created an empire of its own.

I felt restless at my living; I was disgusted every moment with that kind of life. The notorious brothel where I was living was a place where thousands of girls like me had to sell their bodies for cheap prices. How hard and full of terror was to live in that environment! When I think of it, my heart trembles even today. Although the pain within me had another chief reason and that was the memory never left me. Almost always I remembered my village. The mountains, the waterfalls and the forests that extended far and wide looked as hard as life itself with them uphill and downhill filled with the crowds.

She further added " My mother had a dream exactly like mine that her daughter would get some education by going to the city and could stand on her own to make her living. But I was brought to this terrible brothel and was sold by my own uncle's son. I was sold, and I came to know later that it was a brothel where thousands of girls were sold and they were forced to sell their bodies for a small amount of money. In a place where the human vultures spend money to play foul with raw flesh and the prestige of one was ruined just for a handful of coins, how could I survive in a place such as that? My heart was filled with depression, but I was unable to express any of my feelings to anybody because the trade of female bodies was found from big lodges to hotels and yellow mansions of that city.

In that place bargain of girls, selling them and turning them into prostitutes by force inflicting untold tortures on them were just a common incident in that environment. The rich men filled their thirst with me everyday”.

She was obviously scared. She cried "It was a great joke that my right over my own body was snatched away from me. Often a question tormented me from time to time. After all, what was the real meaning of a person to live as a woman? Was it just a means of providing cheap enjoyment which one could have by paying money? I hated my existence as a woman in thousands of questions. What a pity! My body was torn and snatched out by hundreds everyday. When I saw the mistresses of brothels surrounding me, every time I felt inferiority complex. All the males were hungry for fulfilling their sexual passion. I felt a strong hatred towards men. But despite the fact I had to sell my body. While she was talking, crying and talking "When I came to my city, I had a great imagination. My life, in fact, was quite terrible and horrible as I had to live surrounded twenty four hours by agents and customers. At the gates of every building there were agents busy haggling for our bodies as if we were beasts kept for auction. And we waited for the customers inside a very dark and foul smelling room. Who was there to love me in that world of money ? Everywhere there were alcoholic drinks, money and only customers.

At that time, I was completely robbed. The value of my body and of my soul was completely depleted. But now, I have returned with the germs of HIV in with me. Although I served the brothel for so many years. I have gone empty now. When I have come back, I am here with empty mind and carrying a terrible disease with me”. She said. I asked her a lot of questions, only some of which she could answer. She spent the time talking with me and said " After my arrival here, I have met my old sweet heart. I found out that he hadn't got married yet. Really, I didn't see any difference between in the past and at the present time. He showed the same attraction, the same love and the same restlessness to see me. At this moment, he is closer to me and I am crying to open up some thing of life to him. To be closer to each other is a pleasant moment. " It's definitely not easy to be alive. In fact, life is a difficult, dangerous and unpleasant journey". She said.

I am outside of my apartment. I am now looking at my diary. A street ! When you refer to a street you have to associate it with the crowds of people. With the street comes the question of crowds and noise they make. There used to be the same crowd in the street at that time and even today. There is no decrease in the throngs of people. At this moment I too am in the crowd of people. But, the special quality of the street has been to remain alone. Even in the crowd except one or two faces known sometimes remain mostly unacquainted.

I am walking on the side of this crowd without stopping. But the crowd is increasing. "Even at this moment in this place, the crowd has been large as at the market," an old women near me shouts. "These people are tremendously increasing in number. Every time I am afraid that there would be some accident. It is not safe to send children to school", she prattles on for a long time. She pulls a small child walking beside her and holds its friendly arm. Everybody has his own problem. Perhaps no person is free from his or her problem. Should I have an ideal thought like this? I am alone in my walk and unknowingly my steps turn toward the residence of my friend again. She was found all alone in her room.

She shows her formality, "Come in Kamala". I go close to her and sit down. " I have arranged a job for you in an office. You must forget your past. Whatever may be, the criminal has been punished. Now you shouldn't continue worrying", I told her everything in a breath.
She cried in response and said "My past has gone through such a hot torture that the criminal's getting even a capital punishment would not heal my wound nor the stain in my character erase, because of which today I am suffering from HIV. He deserves to die for the shame he brought to my life. ?"
When I hear what she told me I felt that I was sinking where I stood. I am frightened. I am choked. I move away from the place. I don't even like to look back. I don't know where I am going now.

Friendship And Some memories can never be replaced.

Kamala Budhathoki 'Sarup'

"Which one is Kamala's home?" I heard the voice of one of my childhood friend, from the yard. I stood up, went to the mirror, adjusted my eyeliner, lipstick on my lips and went down to welcome my friend. He was standing in the yard.

"We are meeting after a longtime. Thanks God for reuniting us." He stared at me. I just smiled at him, and thinking this was his habitual satire. "When did you come?" he asked the personal questions without hesitation, which I didn't anticipate.

I looked at myself in front of the mirror again. I lighted the stove and boiled tea in a kettle. My heart began to boil as the tea was boiling into the pot. I compared my heart with the boiling tea.
My friend and I were good friends at school. I was in class 10 and used to help him in many ways. It was necessary to step upward to the walk to reach school. On the way, there were peaches. I helped pick them. I protected him from the raspberry thorns, which I collected and gave to him in a leaf plate that I brought from home.Oh how we used to enjoy watching the films, and drinking a cup of tea. We used to sing and dance on the way home.

I could not remember more than that. I tried to remember, "If you study hard, we will share our joys and sorrows.

We may get good jobs also. A teaching job might be easy to get." On the fifth day of the school he had said to me and my late older sister, "Studying in the city is not as easy as you think. It is very hard to lead a life. It takes a lot of money. Studying without money is impossible. It is better to search for a job first. In city money does not grow on trees. Money will do everything," my late sister answered. "Do you understand?" They used to make such jokes to keep me happy.

I poured the boiling tea in a cup and entered the room. I stood in front of the mirror and sipped my tea. I adjusted the screen of the window, and lay on my bed and put the hands on my heart. It beat rapidly."I am still searching for my old friend ", I said. I dashed into the kitchen. I started to fry meat. I prepared tea. After a time, I gave him meat, fried rice and cups of tea. Placing the things on the table, I spoke. "Why are you late today?" While saying so , my heart trembled. I wished to weep, embracing him at that moment. "Why do you weep? I know you love your friend.

In a long five years, not only is your heart pious but also it loves. I also wept for you. You would be surprised to read the note in my dairy. Do you know my parents tried to force me to get married, but I didn't listen to them. He further said "My mother died from grief and father has been a heart patient for 4 years. It was me who wanted you to come to my wedding. I did not want to get married without your approval of the woman. I could not trust my parents." Saying so, he wept excitedly. "The tea is getting cold. Eat everything now; we will continue our conversation after dinner." I tried to change the matter from the serious to the simple.

"Kamala dear friend, I struggled with life in many ways. I was against an arranged marriage.". He expressed himself in a minute. My eyes were filled with tears. I love my friends for love, relationship and respect.

My first stories collection.

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=361095254088422&set=p.361095254088422&type=3&theater

My first stories collection. The stories in this book examine the increasing love and sadness and environmental aspects of life. Very simple things of life, joys, love and sorrow, which are important for the life of people.

I like to write short stories with characters of emotional feelings. I admire many writers. I try to use unique details of a character's experience. I pay a lot of attention on it. I am a woman with ambition and hard work, so I would very much like emotions of all backgrounds to pick up my stories. I would like to say, a lot of people from different fields have influenced me as well. Writing a short story is more challenging I believe. I like to read Dickens, Shakespeare, Ernest Hemingway, and Eliot. My stories are based on fact - it is indeed life, love and our moments and memories, that is what makes writing so great, so powerful.

I like to share emotions and visions. I have been writing stories since I was 13 years old. Many good people (writers, journalists, family and friends) who encouraged my writing, that enabled me to follow my dreams and talent into this field. I am forever thankful for my sisters, brothers and paren'ts encouragement, respect and belief.

Love, Freedom And Relationships

Love, Freedom And Relationships
Kamala B. Sarup
Published in mediaforfreedom.com

The real story of my friends. He went out the house. He put on his shoes and hurriedly reached the street. He even didn’t inform his mom about his departure. According to last seven years routine, he used to go out after having breakfast and tea. He did it always after work in the office. But today he went out hurriedly when his mom was busy.He has to meet his girlfriend.

She really seems like the moon. He imagined her big eyes which attracted him. A real attractive lady. Thinking of her, he was almost lured to lost on the way. She really looked beautiful yesterday. The red flower on her plait defeated every beauty in front of her. He is proud of  her.

While enjoying romantic relationship with her he does not wish even to imagine his problem.  Even he is not satisfied with a single act of his life. He thinks, his girlfriend seems to him like grape which can be seen always. Though, her teeth are white and trim. Oil on her hair and expensive scent on her dress always make her look like a bride. He thought and decided at once to make her his wife. When he was pushing himself through a busy street, an office co-worker, disturbed him.

‘I have urgent office work. Saying so, he escaped.  He recalled his position in the office. He worked in the newspaper. The salary he gets is not enough to maintain all these people. He wished that wives should be like his girlfriend, who is ever ready for laugh, go out for lunch and dinner and looks new every time.Again he thought if his income can not meet the needs of her; thinking so he became mad. He told himself his life would be incomplete in the absence of his girlfriend. He was about to weep. Meanwhile he was disturbed by the chairman of his Development Committee. ‘Hello  what made you to behave like this? Your shoes are on the wrong feet! have you have lost your mind or what ‘ Such a bitter complain from the chairman upset him. His shirt was unbuttoned too.

He had been working since 7 years without a promotion or increase in salary. If he would be a politician, at least he would have been promoted to the chairman thought himself. He shocked himself. He thanked the chairman and corrected himself from top to bottom. He was eager to see his girlfriend. He has forgotten his parents. He wished to pass the whole night with her.  He kept his way to his girlfriend. He had drawn his salary the day before. He had some money to buy sugar and oil. He decided to buy some presents for her. He imagined her face. He is grateful to her.

He would like to buy her a lot of things at a time.  His heart filled with the love of her.  He went to market and bought a present for her. He wanted to keep her happy. The people on the way seemed him to disturb elements. The way to his girlfriend was quite long today. He was eager to meet her. If he fails to reach her in time, his mom might call on the phone and to disturb him. It would be very bad if his mom comes to know about his relationship. He was talking himself If his mom leaves he would accept her as his wife.  Fifty year old  he is excited for his girlfriend.

He wants to forget his life. He declared ‘I care not about the people’s comment to marry with my girlfriend’.When he neared to the room of her, he corrected his hair and dress unconsciously. He hold the present transparently and knocked at the door. After a while the door was opened. It was her standing at the door. She welcomed.

He couldn’t decide what to do. He remained standing with the present, looking at her.Published in Newsblaze.com

Why I Love Cape May

Why I Love Cape May
Kamala B. Sarup
Published in Cape May County Herald.

When I moved from Pennsylvania to Cape May in 2012, I knew that I was blessed with the greatness of new feelings. I visited places like Ocean City and Atlantic City, but decided to stay at the shore. I fell in love with Cape May’s shore; beautiful Sunset Beach, sounds of tides in the ocean and the Boardwalk in Wildwood. Living and working here has been an inspiration for my passion in writing articles and stories.

I always used to wonder why people liked certain kinds of seasons, but not all. I never even cared to think about it as I always thought there was nothing to be excited about for a particular season. But I started to notice that the months before June and July brought some extra happiness to my life. This is the time when the Jersey tomatoes ripen in the fields; the buds develop into different kinds of flowers that add a sweet fragrance into the air. The sky slowly gets rid of all those rain clouds and becomes crystal clear. This is the time, not only for a particular age group, but also for every individual to share their happy thoughts and moments with each other.

The sound of children playing on the Boardwalk, couples holding hands, and the smell of flowers in the air makes this place lively and fun. During this time of the year, visiting relatives, friends and also historical places can help us know about our past and also help us spend our evenings too. Many people choose to spend their evenings on Sunset Beach watching the sun set into the horizon.
Cape May City is also famous for bird watchers. Last year, there was a big event for them here because many species of birds and butterflies migrate from the south to nest in the north and back (in the month of October) coincidently making this place a half-way stopping point due to the abundance of food and its climatic condition at this time of the year. I see birds flying up to the farthest distance and their navigation techniques for such long distances amaze me and this is partially understood. Watching those species of birds has become one of my hobbies.

Later, I wished I could have my own house surrounded by flowers and trees from where I could see water and waterfalls.  I also made a lot of friends with whom I shared my experiences, and gained some new ones too.

Cape May is rapidly turning into a tourist area for both domestic and international tourists. Therefore, I would like people from different parts of the country to visit Cape May this summer so that you cannot only see but also feel the wonders of this place.

I love being here in Cape May and I think moving to Cape May was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life.

कमला सरुपको कथाशिल्प

The great critic, DrKhagendra Luitel , wrote about my first and second collection of stories, “Ways To Compromise ” "Feelings of Remembrance". It was published in Garima magazine. His comments add honor for these stories.
